| Sebring Hamfest - Good Deals on the LWRA Table went fast |
![]() (Pointing) "You need this fine ROBOT gear right here". Jack K4BYF, Sam W4KUM, and Howard WB4NT at one of two LWRA Tables. In all, nine members of the LWRA stopped in at the tables. February 18, 7AM-1PM Sam W4KUM and John KC4KLM arrived in the morning and were pleasantly greeted by a member from the Highlands county Amateur Radio Club which sponsors the 'fest. We were escorted to our tables which were marked as reserved for the LWRA. Our spot was unpowered and we asked if we could tap into power remotely. We were offered to move to a table right next to an outlet, which also happened to be right at the front door. Sam said the sponsors were "most accommodating". 'Fest goers immediately converged on our vehicle to see what we had. A number of items never made it to the table. The crowd got excited when they saw the back end of a transceiver and would blurt out, what is it and how much? They paid very well for boat anchors this year! Closed boxes of items made it to the table. But folks seemed to help their selves to the contents. Items that did not sell quick, or not at all were the ones that had power and test equipment connected to them. The event sponsors had a lunch special called the "Standing Wave". A sign shows the special with a waving hand on it with a face. (cute). the special consisted of sloppy joes, chips, and a drink. The smell filled the air signaling it was lunch time. Unknowing the lunch special would be available, we brought our own for the group provided by Sam W4KUM. The facilities at the new location are excellent in every aspect, and easier to get to as well. A great job and big thanks to the Highlands County Amateur Radio Club on a successful event. The trip was worthwhile and we'll be back! ![]() Second LWRA Table for "Power ups" at the 2006 Sebring Hamfest. |
