March
28, 2006 Two dozen LWRA members and their family experienced another great event at the Kiwanis park in Lake Wales, where everyone made a delicious contribution to the picnic. The accomodating covered picnic area was complimented by a comfortable temperature and pleasant breeze. Jack offered to bring out his 'Fox' hunt transmitter with a fancy controller attached, and a few direction finding antennas for other participants to use. The mini fox hunt was over pretty quick. Howard WB4NYT won the first round. Soon after the 'fox' tried to outsmart the hunters as the transmitter appeared to have jumped by itself to an unknown frequency, thus ending the posibility of additional hunts that day. Despite the glitch, it was intersting to see the type equipment used in the hunt and how it was constructed. Sam W4KUM recently made some "Boat Anchors" work once again, and brought them to the picnic for a live demonstration. |
