- Pictures of the Storrer site from the early 80's? Left image- Our first Repeater site from a distance. Only one big dish is present. There were many in the late 80's. Middle image- The double exposure. Right image- just to left of big block building was our tin shed, sandwiched between another shed. Just when we think we dug up all the club pictures of days gone by, more turns up bit by bit. This bit of film was found and carefully excavated from the in between pages of the oldest meeting minutes book we still have. Earliest entries of this book were made in 1983. Ok, it just fell out and hit the floor. Scans (carbon dating) of the strip of film failed to produce useable results. The film strip was taken to Highlander Studios, where the owner Alan Mann explained that special equipment was needed to electronically handle the film. Just laying it on a flat bed scanner, which was tried will not work he said. Mr. Mann also pointed out this film appeared to be a 'cut', to be discarded, as the middle exposure (as shown) was a double exposure. That is, who ever took the picture, did not fully advance the film to the next frame. Mr. Mann wanted to put his professional experience to work by fully restoring the image for us. However, John KC4KLM thought it would be neat to process the image just enough to see something, and yet leave the 'scars' so we can remember where this bit of LWRA history came from. |
