We had 14 in attendance, 12 were voting members at the February meeting- enough for a quorum. If you were not able to attend we feel you still need to be kept up to date. This was an important meeting about what is happening in your club.

Old Business
  • Picnic. Lake Wales Kiwanis Park reservation confirmed for March 10th 11AM to 2PM. Members indicated what they plan to bring to the picnic. A committee was formed to acquire up to $100 of door prizes. Will also have a mini-swap fest, and antique radio gear show-off. Only 9 members have signed up so far. Check the item list on the web site. Let us know if you can attend and what you plan to bring.

  • Sebring Hamfest LWRA table update. Acquired 3 tables with power for members to sell their 'wares. Tables are inside and will be setting up at 7AM, Feb. 17th.

  • Repeater site search report. Jim N1WHF mentioned property in Dundee. Will check that out. Confirmed Bok does not have antennas and are ground rods. Thomas AG4UC is checking on a Fredericks tower in Babson Park. Chet AB4XK mentioned how we can possibly contact Fredericks. Rick W4RLD, Thomas AG4UC, and Tom KB0KBE to talk to city about water tower. No report available at this meeting on that.

  • Storage. Jim N2JHW will store the shed for us, and the gear will go into storage as well. Hope to have taken care of this by February. Expenses involving storage were detailed at the meeting.

  • New Business
  • MS150 150+ mile bike race Apr. 21-22
Support personnel from the race are asking for our help in providing communications, safety checkpoints, roving support vehicles, and more if possible during this two day event. Not much is known about the event this point as we've just been made aware of it. It should be something similar to the Sebring tour we support each year. Check our web site for information and links as soon as it becomes available to us. This would be a great opportunity to invite officials to see what we actually do as a service to the public.

  • Presentations for 2007. Asked members if they would like to put a presentation on for the group at a future meeting. Only Bill KR4ZU offered to do so. His presentation (date not determined yet) will be on the Space Shuttle and Sky Lab!

  • New Polk CERT program.
Gene KC4VXO took a moment to tell s there is a new Polk CERT program involving 9 weeks of training in 3 to 4 hour sessions. Gene asked for volunteers. Members asked Gene if he could get a representative to come to a future meeting some time to tell us more about it the program.
