December 27th Dan Marquis owner of Central Florida Tower, installed our new 4 bay, folded dipole antenna for us, as well as supplying need feed line as well. Thank you Dan from all the Amateur Radio operators from far and wide, to and fro, now and in the future! So...Where are we at now? (From Rick WB9IJW) Well, the antenna is up.....now just need to run it into the building....and attach proper connector.....and then put the repeater on the air.....providing she will cooperate..hehehe (older news follows) As of November 25th Tower climber has confirmed new antenna is on order. As of November 3rd John KC4KLM has been in touch with City officials as well and they said they understand our delay (waiting on tower climber) and are in "no hurry". As of September 29th Active member Jack K4BYF has been in contact with the City and says they are delighted to hear we are still interested in using the water tower. Jack says the City would like to use the LWRA Repeater as a backup in case they have a failure. The city says they do have their own Amateur Radio equipment available to them if needed in emergency. Additional news on the City communications as reported by Jack. They are setting up an Emergency Operations Center (EOC) in the Fire Department building. Also they have a mobile set up as well. |
