| Cavity
(duplexer) Checkup |
April
29, 2008
Howard WB4NYT and Bob K2GII took some measurements and
made adjustments to the repeater system cavities to attempt
improvement.
Cavities allow us to use just the one antenna for both
transmitter and receiver for duplex operation. More>> |

Though the antenna itself did not shift, there was something
the climber noticed. The Rhon tower itself was shifting.

Climber Checks on Antenna Shift- "Just an Illusion" |
April

It
should be noted that back in December of 2007, Danny Marquis
once again donated brand new feedline to the club, sold
antenna at cost, and handled installation for us.
THANK YOU DANNY!
Since then, In mid-January, Thomas AG4UC happened to drive
by the site...... More>> |

What better way to say -Thank you - to all who have made
many donations in various ways towards resuming repeater
operations than to actually get on the repeater and

| Repeater
is Back On the Air After 16+ Months. USE
IT! |
 |
Now
that the repeater is back on the air it's time to get
the word out.
No doubt you have received a number of e-mails from
Rick WB9IJW as a reminder that includes two words:
"USE IT! "
So what if USE IT! it was turned into
a catchy theme? More>>

System Installed at New Site |
April
2, 2008
After being off the air for over 16+ months, due to the
loss of the 'Y' site, in search of a new home, finding
a new home, Antenna/feedline acquisition and install,
repeater system overhaul, and lastly access to the new
repeater site, -today is the day the LWRA repeater returns
to the air....
Here's how the day went. More>> |

Changes in Progress - Minor Changes |
| A
bit of cleanup of the web site is underway. Pages that
have had little or no usage at all, such as the Sale/Trade
page, where members could list wants or needs on gear
is set to disappear due to lack of use. Links to the useless
pages still have to me maintained especially when adding
new content and is a pain. Other small changes the Webmaster
is looking into would be grouping some of the general
information pages into just one page to make things convenient
and tidy. The only problem is the Webmaster is admittedly
wordy! And last there may be links on some pages that
no longer work and will be cleaned up eventually. |

Water Tower/Repeater Site Updates- What of the Repeater
? |
As of
April 2nd
The Repeater is installed
and running at the new site. Repeater coverage appears
to be about the same, give or take, a few feet, from what
has been observed so far except for possibly the North
where large improvements may have been made. The new repeater
coverage pattern is still being studied. There is a technical
issue that has appeared at the site already and needs
investigating some time.

New antenna installed. But which one? The tallest one
of course!
The installation is big step for the L.W.RA. in returning
to their main goal- supporting a Repeater for Polk County
and beyond.
Tower statistics:
Water tower height 130'. Ground elevation (ASL) 234'.
Will be about 75' higher than previous site. Antenna type:
DB224.
