(Looking South, 2:40PM)
Another good picture of the park facilities. Clouds getting darker now.
The dipole on the left has been pushed around by the winds that have thankfully
persisted all day. That's OK as all the contacts seemed to be coming out
of the West anyhow.

(5:00PM) Sam W4KUM
shown here complains to John KC4KLM that his ICOM IC-730 is not producing
full output anymore on 20 Meters.
While attracting a crowd of one, John KC4KLM takes his transceiver apart
in the field. After tightening screws, and wiggling plugs on each board,
the transceiver now produces full output again. The transceiver is only
23 years old! |

These
two generators were our power sources for Field Day.
20 minutes into the getting on the air portion of Field Day this generator
sputters and dies. Chet AB4XK quickly discovers the problem. The generator
does not have a magneto and so ignition was provided by a battery that gave
out. Chet simply switched batteries.

This
generator nearly lasted our nearly 6 hour event before trying to run out
of fuel. It dipped and surged for the longest time thirsty for more fuel.
Rick W4RLD went off to get more fuel for his generator.
However, it was not long after the refueling that we, we pulled the plug
on everything, and packed up. |
