Lake Wales Repeater Coverage Area

Currently this information refers to our old site. We expect better coverage at the new site. Of course over time we will need to determine our new coverage area based on reporting stations with certain configurations. Previously we determined coverage with a 50 Watt mobile with at least a 5/8 wave antenna.

As of April 21, 2008 We are still determining our new repeater coverage. From what we know so far, to our surprise, coverage appears to be exactly the same as when we were at the 'Y' site to our South, East, and Northwest. We are getting some indications that there may be large gains to the North, which was previously a grayish area to be in coverage wise.

Below is a (outdated) map of Polk and surrounding areas that shows typical coverage for the Repeater we support.

When we have special club functions or provide a community service such as the tour of Sebring bike ride, the map give us and idea of what kind of equipment we need to access the Repeater around the County.

Sample signal quality from mobile units with 5/8 wave (or thereabout) antennas, roving around the area accessing the Repeater are observed and plotted.
